Providing transportation services to residents of Vermilion County in East Central Illinois.

Medicaid Transportation Provider Service

CRIS Rural Mass Transit District (CRIS RMTD) can now provide non-emergency Medicaid transportation services for residents of Vermilion County. Trips are available throughout Vermilion County and to the Champaign-Urbana area for all clients that qualify through Medicaid.

Medicaid rides must be going to a medical appointment (not shopping or to work). The medical appointment must be scheduled, or if going to a walk-in visit, the approval process must be able to confirm that the Medicaid provider will take walk-ins.

The approval process can take a few days so it’s always a good idea to submit your request at least a week before your appointment. To request a trip, you must first call First Transit at 877-725-0569 to get your Medicaid trip approved. After the trip is approved, First Transit will give you a reference number. You can then call to arrange your trip with CRIS RMTD.

To find out if you qualify for Medicaid transportation services and the information you will need to get your ride approved, CRIS RMTD had produced a brochure that will answer many of your questions. To get a copy of this brochure, call CRIS RMTD at 217-443-2287or click here.
