Providing transportation services to residents of Vermilion County in East Central Illinois.

Hoopeston Area Transportation

Since 2009, CRIS Rural Mass Transit District (CRIS RMTD) has been proud to provide a scheduled bus route between Danville and Hoopeston. Due to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) decision not to fund the “Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) program,” the Corn Cruiser commuter ceased running after February 28, 2015

CRIS RMTD started the Hoopeston Corn Cruiser route in 2009 with funding through the JARC program from IDOT. Since the start, CRIS has logged over 250,000 miles on the “Corn Cruiser” bus, averaging 268 miles per day. The Corn Cruiser provided residents of Hoopeston, Rossville and Bismarck with scheduled transportation to shopping, medical facilities and connections to the Danville Mass Transit system. The JARC program funding was discontinued by IDOT during the past fiscal year.

Riders who utilized the CRIS Corn Cruiser bus can still obtain transportation through the CRIS rural transportation program. Riders should call CRIS RMTD at 217-443-2BUS (217-443-2287) at least 48 hours in advance to schedule their ride. Rides can be scheduled Monday through Friday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The fare for the CRIS rural transit services are as follows:

General Public, 59 and younger - $1.00 each way
Seniors, 60 and over - $1.00 each way
Disabled Clients (any age) - $1.00 each way

For questions or to schedule a ride with CRIS RMTD, call (217) 443-2287.
